Sunday 29th April saw us on home turf again with Peak Performance Snowsports holding their first CN event at Pendle.
Again we had a strong turn out of racers looking to build on the previous days success and take home advantage.
The girls were represented by Corinne & Joley Side, Eleanor Eaves and Kelly Wiseman, and the boys represented by Chris Corr, Jonathan Eaves, Jack Feneley, John & Robert Holmes, Declan & Joseph Huppach, Andrew Leeson, Joseph Nickson, Andrew & David Wiseman, Callum & Kaigan Witts.
Our head coach Lins Allen was course setter on the day. The weather turned, for the worse, with the whole country experiencing extreme conditions. For Pendle this meant hail stones during practice which then reduced to heavy rain, but with, thankfully, a gusting tail wind down the slope. Not great conditions for an outdoor race, but it was well organized and, despite a couple of hitches, all went well.
Eleanor built on the previous day and moved up to 1st place in the under 10 girls we had no under 10 boys competing on the day.
Kelly enjoyed a 2nd place podium position in her age group, together with Corrine Side.
In the boys race we had 5 skiers in the top 10 Andrew Leeson using his experience to finish in top stop overall closely followed by Chris Corr 2nd with Callum Witts 5th , Declan Huppach 7th (despite missing his first run whilst attending A&E after a fall in open practice) and Kaigan Witts 8th and impressive performance despite the conditions.
In the individual age grouping, Andrew Leeson, Chris Corr and Callum enjoyed 1stplaced podiums, John Holmes, Kaigan Witts 2nd places and Josef Huppach and Morgan Cooper 3rd places.
The field was a competitive one with other races just missing out on podium performances despite the difficult conditions.
