Peak Performance Snowsports Club National

Sunday, April 29th, 2012

Sunday 29th April saw us on home turf again with Peak Performance Snowsports holding their first CN event at Pendle.

Again we had a strong turn out of racers looking to build on the previous days success and take home advantage.

The girls were represented by Corinne & Joley Side, Eleanor Eaves and Kelly Wiseman, and the boys represented by Chris Corr, Jonathan Eaves, Jack Feneley, John & Robert Holmes, Declan & Joseph Huppach, Andrew Leeson, Joseph Nickson, Andrew & David Wiseman, Callum & Kaigan Witts.

Our head coach Lins Allen was course setter on the day. The weather turned, for the worse,  with the whole country experiencing extreme conditions. For Pendle this meant hail stones during practice which then reduced to heavy rain, but with, thankfully, a gusting tail wind down the slope. Not great conditions for an outdoor race, but it was well organized and, despite a couple of hitches, all went well.

Eleanor built on the previous day and moved up to 1st place in the under 10 girls – we had no under 10 boys competing on the day.

Kelly enjoyed a 2nd place podium position in her age group, together with Corrine Side.

In the boys race we had 5 skiers in the top 10 – Andrew Leeson using his experience to finish in top stop overall closely followed by Chris Corr 2nd  with Callum Witts 5th , Declan Huppach 7th  (despite missing his first run whilst attending A&E after a fall in open practice) and Kaigan Witts 8th and impressive performance despite the conditions.

In the individual age grouping, Andrew Leeson, Chris Corr and Callum enjoyed 1stplaced podiums, John Holmes, Kaigan Witts 2nd places and Josef Huppach and Morgan Cooper 3rd places.

The field was a competitive one with other races just missing out on podium performances despite the difficult conditions.

Pendle Club National

Saturday, April 28th, 2012

Saturday 28th April was our own CN event and, with a home advantage, we saw a strong team of Pendle Skiers, from both our registered racers and those taking part on a day entry basis.

The under 10’s saw Eleanor Eaves and Alex Lutwyche taking part. The girls were represented by Nicola Herbert, Louise Harrison & Kelly Wiseman, with a strong field of boys, Morgan Cooper, Chris & David Corr, Jonathan Eaves, Jack Feneley, John & Robert Holmes, Declan & Josef Huppach, Andrew Leeson, Jacob Lutwyche, Joseph Nickson, David & Andrew Wiseman, and Callum & Kaigan Witts.

Conditions saw some drizzle and a tail wind which would see some quick times on the board.

Colin Tee & Pete Cutler set a course to suit the conditions and the Pendle team took home advantage with some very close results.

Eleanor Eaves managed a 2nd place in the U10 girls, and Jacob Lutwyche was pushed down to 4th so just missed out on getting on the podium.

Kelly Wiseman was 2nd in her age group followed by Louise Harrison in 3rd, with Nicola Herbert topping the podium in 1st place in her age group.

In the boys we had three skiers in the overall top 10, Chris Corr 1st overall, Callum Witts 5th overall and Kaigan Witts 9th overall.

In the individual age groups Chris Corr was awarded a 1st, Callum Witt was awarded a 1st, Kaigan Witts a 3rd , Declan Huppach a 2nd, and Jacob Lutwyche a 3rd

GBR Races 1 & 2 (Outdoor)

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

April 21st & 22nd saw the start of the GBR Series of Races a new event for 2012.

The event consists of a combined in door & out door series of races for the overall competition plus and in door only and out door only series.

Again it was a weekend back at Chill Factor in Manchester.

Kelly Wiseman was our only female representative, with Sally Wood back at university, with the boys represented by Chris Corr, together with Declan & Josef Huppach.

After the previous weekends racing at Chill Factor our racers were a becoming more familiar with the in door conditions, and with Kelly just missing the podium 4th in her age group, and both Chris and Declan on the podium with 3rd places in their respective age groups.

Sunday saw Colin Tee as course setter with trickery combinations to challenge all those who took part whilst Chris was pushed off the podium, but the course suited Declan who was able to move up and take 1st in his age group on the day.

Well done to those who entered.

Chill Factore Club Nationals

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

April 15th completed the racing weekend with some of our skiers again at Chill Factor e for their first CN event.

Kelly Wiseman & Sally Wood were again representing the girls and joined by Chris Corr, Jonathan Eaves, Jack Feneley, Declan & Josef Huppach again.

The in door snow proved difficult with a couple of tricky courses so no podium finishes for anyone, but well done for taking part.

Telford Club National

Saturday, April 14th, 2012

April 14th saw the Telford CN held on indoor snow at Chill Factor e, with Kelly Wiseman & Sally Wood representing the girls, and Chris Corr, Jonathan Eaves, Jack Feneley, Declan Huppach and Josef Huppach representing the boys.

Well done to everyone who competed and to Declan who managed a podium 3rd place in his age group.

March Race Coaches Award

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

The award for March in relation to the 6.00 – 7.15 lesson has been presented to Alex Lutwyche. Alex is one of our younger skiers and has worked really hard in training during March, especially when we have been working using the small gates and focusing on line, ready for the start of the National Races.

Pendle Racers take podiums at first Stoke Fun Race

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

Pendle races enjoyed medal success at the first of the Stoke fun races recently.

We had five racers representing the club at the first event of the summer series at Stoke with a number of parents also assisting Stoke as Race Officials.

It was an overcast Saturday morning when everyone booked in at around 8.30, with the course open for practice at 9.00. The morning saw some drizzle for the two timed runs which saw great performances from all those from Pendle.

Eleanor Eaves 1st in the U10 girls, Josef Huppach & Robert Holmes putting in 1st & 2nd in the U12 boys, Jonathan Eaves 2nd U14 and John Holmes 1st in the over 19 category.

After a quick lunch break and prize giving the course was reset and the day brightened and stayed dry. The afternoon saw exciting head to head racing with the morning performances putting our racers in groups one, two and the lowest in an impressive group 7 out of the 12.

Everything wrapped up by 2pm to allow parents to provide a leisurely taxi service home to the children.
