Bromley Club National

Saturday, May 12th, 2012

Saturday 12th was the Bromley Club National and a number of racers and parents joined forces to car share and travel down together on the Friday night ready for the Saturday event.

It was the first time to Bromley for a number of us, but Bromley had assisted us by moving their scheduled race on the race calendar and in turn we agreed to field a team of racers to support them.

We were blessed with clear sunny skies, although this meant a good waxing and plenty of lubricant as the slope does not have a misting system.

Chris Corr, Eleanor & Jonathan Eaves, Jack Feneley, Declan & Josef Huppach & Kelly Wiseman represented Pendle on the day.

The slope was dry and sticky in the hot conditions, but Eleanor achieved a 1stplace in the girls under 10’s, with Chris Corr 2nd overall and 1st in his age group together with Declan also 1st in his age grouping.

Bromley made us welcome, and depending on the calendar next year and the improvements they are proposing we may make the long trip again next year.

GBR Races 1 & 2 (Outdoor)

May 5th & 6th took us to Norwich, for races 3 & 4 of the GBR series and the first in the outdoor series of the GBR events.

Saturday saw a slightly different format with two timed runs plus the top racers then taking part in individual head to heads.

Sunday was more conventional with the event back to the two timed runs.

Chris Corr, Jonathan Eaves, Declan & Josef Huppach, Andrew Leeson and Callum Witts made the long trip to Norwich, with the ski centre one of the best in the country and as such attracting a very strong field of competitors.

On Saturday although there was some very close racing, Declan Huppach was the only person to gain a podium finishing 1st in his age group.

Sunday and different course suited our competitors better Chris Corr managing an overall 6th and 3rd placing in his age group, with Declan Huppach holding on to 1stplace again in his age group, and Callum Witts 2nd and Josef Huppach 3rd.
