North West Ski Federation Schools Race 2016

Sunday, March 27th, 2016

Pendle played hoast to the NWSF 2016 schools race which saw 144 competitors take part in this annual competition from schools and colleges from throughout the North West Area.

Special thanks go to Jenni Corr the race organiser assisted by David Eaves who maned the timing and produced all the start lists and results as well as Rossendale Mountain Rescue who provided First Aid cover and the many helpers on the day.

Plendle Hill was blessed with clear sunny skies which saw the event follow its normal format. After open practice the timed runs started – eg racers gets tww runs with their best time to count for them and to be carried in to their team time. If a racer is in a team the teams best three times count to the overall team time.

After the timed runs, and whilst results are calculated the races take part in a fun head to head knock out completion. As the event is made up of established racers and novice racers the organisers pick the teams of four racers based on the morning times – this ensures some very close fun racing.

A fun day was had by everyone, and a result pack issued to each school as well as being published on www.britski.org although the indivdual results are as follows:

February Winter Race League and end of series results

Sunday, March 27th, 2016

After having to cancel the December event due to servere weather warnings its was a pleasure to welcome everyone back to clear sunny skies for the final event of the current series.

After a prompt start to open practice the morning progressed through the 105 race events with 110 racers taking part and a number of race off required on the day to determine the medals outcome on the day.

A three way tie for second place in the U99 age group lead to an additional race off although results were still all even after this and a larger than normal three way second place podium.

After medals were presented for the days events, Shields were then presented for the series awards
