January Training Ladder

January 11th, 2016

For the January training ladder we welcomed a couple of guests from Pontypool & Kendal Ski Clubs to join our regular racers for our monthly training ladder.

As a result of a sudden chill in the weather we arrived to find a white rather than green slope for our 39 racers to enjoy. Following a quick warm up it was a couple of runs against the clock to set times for the head to head draw. As ever the head to head courses saw some very close races and we managed to get through 54 races and be off the slope for 10am.

Full results have gone to all the individuals and summary details are on the links below.

North West Ski Federation Schools Race 27th February 2016

December 1st, 2015

We are pleased to announce that the next NWSF Schools Race will be held at Pendle Ski Club on 27th February 2016.

The format will be the same as in previous years, with inidivual timed runs which will count to a racers own time plus a school team time if applicable.

Racers enter as individuals from a school but can be put together to form a team in the different age groups of Infants, Juniors, Lower Seniors (key stage 3), Upper Seniors (key stage 4) and Sixth Form. Racers must be in full time education and be Under 19 on the day of the race.

The teams are of 3 or 4 with the best 3 skiers timed runs to count to the team award. Skiers can be from one age group or a mixture but the oldest skier determines the category.

The day runs as 2 times runs in the morning with these counting to the prizes (awards are for 1st, 2nd and 3rd boy and girl in each age category also overall fastest boy and girl .) The team event has 1st in boys team, girls team and mixed team in each age category.

After the timed runs there is a fun event with racers allocated a team based on their morning run times so all teams are reasonably equal. A head to head knock out event determines the winners.

If you have taken part previously Jenni Corr – NWSF Schools race co-ordinator will send out details although entry forms etc will be published when available via the Club Website.

November Training Ladder

December 1st, 2015

On a wet and blustery morning we had 34 racers take part in the monthly training ladder.

A number of new racers took part for the first time and had to battle hard against the wind which has impacted on some racers individual times.

After the timed runs which are available below the course was quickly changed and the head to head races took place.

Many thanks to everyone for helping change the courses and pack away and for the parents who assisted on the day in the damp conditions

Pendle Winter Race League 2 November 2015

November 10th, 2015

Pendle once again welcomed 120 racers from Carlisle, Sunderland, Kendal, Rossendale, Oval, Runcorn & Stoke to take part in the second event in our Winter Race League 2015 series.

Despite very damp weather conditions the morning started with practice at 8.15, with racing starting at around 9.20. Although the weather was damp, it didn’t dampen the competition with lots of close races and a couple of race off’s to decide the medals in some of the age groups.

We look forward to seeing everyone one again on 5th December for event 3

Results for the day are on the link below with these carried forward for the series trophies. Don’t forget it’s the best four out of five results that count for the series and medals are awarded to the top three teams in each age group at every event.
