Race Squad Presentation Night

January 15th, 2015

This year has seen an increase in the number of Pendle Racers, with many racers taking part in the fun / entry level racers at Pendle and Stoke, plus our registered racers and parents travelling the country to take part in events at Norwich, Gloucester, Pontypool, Ipswich & Sunderland – with many parents and members of the coaching team also assisting the other clubs and providing race officials.

It has been great to see everyone taking part and improving, with many having regular podium positions at all levels.

As a result of these strong performances the club has for the first time won the overall ‘Club National Trophy’ which is based on the seasons performance – well done to everyone.

We also hold our own presentation night, and the coaching team made the following awards

ESSKIA Competitions

January 15th, 2015

The ESSKIA regional qualifier race at Rossendale saw record numbers of Pende Races take part to represent their schools, and some go through the finals at Norwich.

Ellie Culshaw, Katelyn Doyle, Amelie & Rebecca Hesselton from St Leonard’s finished third overall in the U12 Girls, with Sam Butterworth, Robert Holmes & Josef Huppach from Park High finishing third overall in the U16 Boys group which saw them also qualify for the British Schools Championships at Hill End Ski Centre.

The boys finished 9th overall after their first run, improving to 8th on their second with Robert having an especially strong first run finishing 3rd overall.

As a result of team and individual performances a number of racers have also been invited to attend the ESSKI training days latter in the year and then overseas at February half term.

Pendle Winter Race League – December

January 15th, 2015

December saw record numbers at the winter race league with racers from Carlisle ski club joining racers from Kendal, Tigers at Sunderland, Snowsports from Runcorn, Stoke and Oval ski clubs all taking part – with an early sell out on the famous Pendle BBQ.

After the usual early start for the officials & helpers racing quickly gone underway to allow us to get through over 100 team racers to allow prize giving on the day at 1.00 approx.

November monthly coaches award

Pendle Winter Race League – November

January 15th, 2015

A fund packed morning was had again for the November Winter Race league with another early start for all the helpers and organisers.

We again welcomed skiers from accros the country and thank them and their parents for their countinued support which makes this a great fun team event.

Some rcaers couldn’t make it as they were lucky enough to be away on snow for half term, but don’t forget the overall results are the best 4 out of 5 events.

We look forward to welcoming everyone in back in December

Pendle Winter League Race – October

Welcome back to all the racers who took part in the first of this seasons Winter Race League. It was a fast packed Saturday morning with helpers arriving from 7.00 am to get everything ready for the racers who visited from Kendal, Sunderland, Runcorn, Oval & Stoke ski centres.

Practice started at 8.30 with racing from 9.30 and a number of close team racers to allow prize giving for the day at 1.00.

We look forward to seeing everyone again in November for round 2

October coaches award

Irish & European Open Championships

January 15th, 2015

A number of Pendle racers made the trip over to Ireland for the Irish Championships on the Saturday, followed up by the European Championships on the Sunday and a dash to catch the ferry back.

Saturday saw strong performances with everyone finishing in the top 15 Declan Huppach second overall closely followed by Kaigan Witts 5th and his brother Callum Witts 6th in a strong contested field.

Sunday saw an equally impressive day the the Pendle racers who again collected medals in their respective individual age groups and Declan Huppach pick up top spot overall to become European Champion whilst racing in the U16 age group against a strong field of U18’s, U21’s and Sen group racers – well done. He was closely followed by Callum Witts 4th overall and first in his age, and his brother Kaiagn Witts 5th overall and also first in his age group.

Well done also to Josef Huppach just outside the top 10, and second in his U14 age group a fantastic performance in a strong field and also to Adam who skied well.

The August monthly coaches award has been presented to Amelie Heselton who was nominated for the ward by the coaches from the Alpha Camp as slope repairs had impacted on our normal training sessions.
