Congratulations to Victoria Gatty for winning the Race Coaches Award for February 2013.

As one of our newer members to race training, Victoria has proved she’s got what it takes to succeed.

Dave Ryding has taken the Europa Cup Slalom title. Well done Dave you deserve it!

Well done to Jake Lye for being presented with the Race Coaches’ Award for January!

The award is now presented on a Sunday to encompass all those undertaking advancement through race training. Jake was chosen for his level of improvement and dedication to training hard.

Last year’s trophy is now up in the ski room, detailing all of last year’s winners.

Congratulations to Sam Butterworth. He’s recently been presented with the Race Coaches Award for December. Keep up the hard work!

A huge congratulations to all at Pendle Ski Club who have pulled together to get the club Clubmark and Snowmark accreditation status. The Club collated work that lots of people have done over the years to complete the Snowmark criteria and to show the club is running above minimum operating standards and providing a legacy for the club structure to continue.

The club will be awarded their certificates at the Ski and Snowboard Show 2013 at Birmingham NEC.

Terry Waters, club chairman, stated “It seemed slightly daunting. We hadn’t realised just how much of the information we had, but just not in the right format. It’s taken a lot of hard work, but it is now collated in a way that will help us build a stronger club for the future”.

Tim Fawke,Chief Executive of Snowsport England said, “Club development is integral to the success of sport at all levels and I believe that initiatives that encourage clubs to develop skiers, boarders, coaches, volunteers and facilities can only be good for the long term prospects of Snowsports in this country I look forward to working with the clubs to obtain this accreditation.”

The Sport England Clubmark scheme was developed to enable children and young people, their parents/carers, vulnerable adults and others with an interest in sport to recognise those clubs which are committed to providing a quality experience. Clubmark is the only nationally recognised accreditation scheme for young people in sports clubs in the UK.

Whilst the scheme is focused on young people, it must be recognised that the criteria are also relevant for all clubs, whether they have young people or not, as the purpose is to create quality sports clubs across the spectrum.

Using the Sport England Clubmark as a guide, Snowsport England has developed its own club development accreditation scheme called Snowmark. This recognises that snow sports have some characteristics which are unique to them and make them different. Clubs attaining Snowmark will also have met all the criteria of the Sport England Clubmark accreditation scheme and will be awarded Clubmark status automatically.

Join us on the 26th for a day of free skiing for members.

The club will be open between 10am and 4pm on Boxing Day for current members to come and have a ski or board free of charge.

It’s a great chance to get together with fellow skiers and work off some of the previous day’s excess.

Oh, and don’t forget your leftovers!!

Pendle Ski Club is holding it’s first mid-season Open Day on Sunday 30th December

Sample free beginner taster sessions on our nursery slope with our fully qualified instructors.

10am – 4pm – just turn up and join the next session.

BBQ available along with snacks and drinks
